#14 Wrestling Walks Away With Four Champions at Georgia Open

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Lander Wrestling team saw four wrestlers come away with bracket wins at the Georgia Open on Sunday hosted by Emmanuel University. Nathan Buckovich and Issac Sheeren won the 174 and 285-pound brackets, respectively, while James Joplin, who wrestled unattached, and Christian Davis were co-champions in the 133-pound bracket. Elijah Lusk, also wrestling unattached, placed second at 149.

Some notable results from the day included a couple of wins over ranked opposition in NAIA. Davis defeated the #4-ranked wrestler in NAIA, 7-1, in the first round, while Sheeren defeated the third-ranked heavyweight in the championship match.

Noah Roulo won four straight matches in the wrestle backs at 157, two of which came by major decision, before having to pull out due to injury in the consolation semis. Garrett Wood placed third at 149 after falling in the semifinals to Lusk, bouncing back with two high-scoring wins in both the consolation semis and the third-place match.

The Lander Wrestling team returns to action on Thursday as they face the Coker Cobras in Hartsville for a 7:00 PM first whistle.
