Bearcats Fall for 1st Time This Season at Georgia College

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – On the road for the second time this week, the Lander women's soccer team dropped their first contest of the season to Peach Belt foe Georgia College on Saturday afternoon, 1-0.

Lander (6-1-3, 1-1-2 PBC) registered five shots on goal throughout the game – all of which came in the second half – and nine in all.

Georgia College (5-6-3, 1-3-2 PBC) peppered Leah Hayes Coen, who had an impressive eight saves, with nine shots on goal and 17 overall; the Bobcats scored in the 39th minute for the lone goal of the contest.

Perhaps the best scoring chance the Bearcats had came early in the 77th minute when Rylee King's free kick from the right side of the pitch was deflected away by a leaping Bobcat keeper to preserve their 1-0 advantage.

Lander returns home for a Wednesday evening contest vs. USC Aiken in a conference battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 5.
