SAINT LEO, Fla. - A goal by Alaire Hodge in the 87th minute broke a 1-1 tie and gave Lander a 2-1 victory over Saint Leo in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
The Bearcats got on the board early when Korina Byland found Maren White, who scored her second goal of the year in the game's fifth minute. The Lions would even the game at one on a goal by Elise McDonald with less than 10 minutes left in the first half. Despite outshooting Saint Leo 12-2 in the second half, Lander could not find the back of the net until Hodge scored her second goal of the season.
The Bearcats out shot the Lions 19-5, including 13-1 in shots on goal.
