LAKELAND, Fla. - Lander exploded for a 3-0 win over Florida Southern Sunday, handing the Mocs their second loss of the season.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half, but in the 37th minute, Mary Moosbrugger found Emma Sexton, who would score to give Lander the 1-0 lead. The Bearcats would hold the one-goal lead through halftime. Ten minutes into the second half, Alaire Hodge intercepted a pass back to the keeper and scored to give Lander a two-goal lead. Two minutes later, Maren White scored the final Bearcat goal on a penalty kick. The Lander defense would only allow two more Florida Souther shots the rest of the half and cruised to their fourth-straight win to start the season.
Leah Hayes Coen recorded three saves in goal to pick up her third shutout and fourth win of the season.
