Lander shuts out USC Aiken 2-0 for opening PBC win

AIKEN, S.C. -  Two first-half goals helped Lander to a 2-0 victory over USC Aiken in their PBC opener. It was the Bearcats' fourth shutout in five games this season. 

Just over 11 minutes into the game, Emma Sexton made a long pass that found Alarie Hodge for her fourth goal of the season to give Lander the lead. The Bearcats continued to lead by one until the 39th minute when Mary Moosbrugger passed the ball to Emma Sexton, who found the back of the net and gave Lander a two-goal lead. 

Despite being held scoreless in the second half, the Bearcats outshot the Pacers 15-1. Leah Hayes Coen made four saves in goal to pick up her fifth win and fourth shutout of the year.
