GREENWOOD - Lander University Deputy Athletics Director Dr. Dawn Turner has been appointed to the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics. Dr. Turner will serve as the Peach Belt Conference representative for a term of four years.
The committee's mission is to provide leadership and assistance to the association in its efforts to provide equitable opportunities, fair treatment, and respect for all women in all aspects of intercollegiate athletics. The committee will also seek to expand and promote opportunities for female student-athletes, administrators, coaches, and officiating personnel, as well as promote governance, administration, and conduct of intercollegiate athletics at the institutional, conference, and national levels that are inclusive, fair, and accessible to women.
"It is an honor to be selected to represent Lander University and the Peach Belt Conference as a member of this prestigious NCAA committee," Turner said. "I look forward to working with my fellow committee members to provide equitable opportunities, fair treatment, and respect for all women in all aspects of intercollegiate athletics."
