Columbus, Ga. - Lander handled six-seeded Georgia College & State on Friday afternoon, winning 4-1 in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference tournament.
Nick Beamish and
Markus Sorensen started the afternoon in No.1 Doubles, coming out victorious 6-4.
Hugo Regner and
Matthew De Groot won No.2 Doubles with the same result.
Regner started off No.1 Singles defeating his opponent 6-4in two straight sets. De Groot won his No.3 Singles match with the same score as his teammate. With only one more point needed for match-play,
Emilien Baradel went to a tiebreaker set, ultimately triumphing 6-3, 7-6.
The Bearcats will play the two-seeded and #8 ranked Flagler on Saturday morning at 11 am. This is a rematch of last year's semifinals, where the Bearcats fell 2-4.
