Men's lacrosse falls to No. 13 Limestone on Thursday

GREENWOOD - The Lander men's lacrosse team concluded its non-conference slate of games with an 18-9 loss to No. 13 Limestone on Thursday evening at Van Taylor Stadium.

Lander drops to 10-4 overall while Limestone moves to 11-4 overall.

Adam Mather led the Bearcats in goal and points with four and five on the night. Tyler Kralj and Krew Conroy were both tied with two assists. James Linn had a team-high in ground balls with five and caused turnovers with four.

Nicholas Paige made 17 saves against the Saints to keep the Bearcats hanging around most of the contest.

Limestone jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the first period. The Saints attempted 14 shots while Paige made seven saves in the first frame.

After the first goal of the game was scored by Limestone with 14:24 left, Mather fired home an equalizing goal with 8:54 left in the first. Limestone would score two more before Kralj would score a goal off a pass from Kyle DeCrispino with 2:36 to make it a 3-2 game. The Saints would score once more in the first, this time with under 40 seconds left.

Lander would score four goals in the second period on 10 attempted shots.

Limestone would score the opening goal of the second period before Mather scored a man-up goal from Conroy with 8:38 left in the second frame of action.

The Saints would notch three unanswered goals before DeCrispino and Noah Longest scored back-to-back goals to make it an 8-5 contest with 3:15.

Limestone would score two more times in the second quarter while Mather would score with 1:38 left off a pass from Kralj.

Scoring would come at a premium in the third quarter, as Lander and Limestone combined for three goals.

The Saints would score the first two goals of the period before Mather scored with under 30 seconds remaining to make it 12-7 Limestone.

The Saints would score six times in the fourth period while Caedmon Ferrell and DeCrispino would score for the Bearcats.

Lander concludes the regular season with a trip to Shorter on Saturday, April 22 before preparing for the PBC Tournament.
