Greenwood, S.C. - The Bearcats won't have far to place their newest trophies in the Horne Arena display cases. As the host site of the Conference Carolinas Championships this weekend, Lander earned three out of seven event finals that they competed in on Sunday.
Acrobatics & tumbling started off the morning in the first event. The Bearcats tied with Limestone in the 5-Element Acro event and needed a tiebreaker, which the Saints ended up winning. Lander brought home the winning plaque in the 6-Element Acro event with a score of 9.400. The competitors for the Blue and Gold in this event were
Rosemary Sponable,
Whitley Hoffman,
Kaylee Holseberg,
Madison Owens,
Avery Marquis,
Ryann Swope,
Hannah Froce,
McCaffrey Owens, and
Sarah Locke.
The next event for the Bearcats was the Synchronized Toss, which was a winning effort. Locke, Marquis, Owens, Hoffman, Swope,
Phoenix Woodard,
Cristyn Reynolds,
Madison Owens, Kocher,
Taryn Laurence, and
Erin Raper were apart of this winning event scoring 8.875. Lander competed in the Open Toss and Duo Pass events. Belmont Abbey and King were victorious in both events respectively.
The last two events for the Bearcats were the Aerial Pass and Open Pass, which was filled by
Ryann Swope. Swope ended up winning one of the two, ending the event finals as the Open Pass champion with a score of 9.750.
