Manheim, PA. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association announced the six finalists for the Div. II National Rookie Wrestler of The Year on March 29 with David Hunsberger of Lander wrestling representing Super Region II.
The six finalists represent each of the NCAA Division II Super Regionals. The coaches of NCAA Division II will now vote on the National Rookie of the Year from these six regional honorees.
Hunsberger was a force to be reckoned with this season for the Bearcats. He finished third on a stacked squad with 32 total victories that featured seven pins, seven tech falls and four wins by major decision. He was also named the SACC Freshman of The Year, won the Super Region II title at 165 and was one of six Bearcats to be named an All-American at the 2023 NCAA Div. II National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
