GREENWOOD - Coming off a Super Region II team title and nine wrestlers moving to the NCAA Div. II National Champions, the No. 2 Lander wrestling coaching staff has been named the 2022-23 Super Region II Coaching Staff of The Year.
"I'm very proud of the work our staff has put in this season. We've invested numerous hours into these student-athletes and I know they appreciate everything we do for them and it shows on the wrestling mat," said head coach R.C. LaHaye.
The Bearcats went 20-2 in the regular season that featured 10 nationally ranked teams from the NCAA and NAIA.
Lander went 4-1 at the NWCA National Duals in January and earned a fifth-place finish.
The Bearcats most recently rolled over the rest of Super Region II with a first-place finish and a Super Region II record 164 team points.
The Blue and Gold also saw nine total wrestlers qualify for nationals. Seven Bearcats finished first while one finished in second and one in third.
Lander prepares for the NCAA Div. II National Championships, which will run from March 10 through March 11 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
