HARROGATE, TENN – Scoring eight goals in the second half, the Lander men's lacrosse team took down Lincoln Memorial 13-9 on the road.
Lander advances to 3-1 overall while Lincoln Memorial drops to 1-2 overall.
Carter Wilcox led the way with four goals. Krew Conroy and Nolan Oakey both had two goals each as well while Wilcox led the way with five points and four ground balls. Britton Weems had a team-high four caused turnovers.
FIRST QUARTER
Wilcox got the Bearcats going in the first quarter as he fired home the game's first goal at the 13:28 mark.
Lincoln Memorial would score the next two goals to take a slim lead with 5:33 left in the first quarter before Wilcox scored his second of the game to tie things at 2-2 with 2:49 left.
The Railsplitters would fire home two more goals to take a 4-2 lead into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
The score sheet would feature only Blue and Yellow in the second quarter. Noah Longest scored with 13:41 to get the Bearcats within one goal of LMU while Conroy found the back of the cage with 3:36 in the second quarter to tie the game at 4-4. Oakey would put the Bearcats back on top with a goal at the 1:56 mark as Lander took a 5-4 lead into the half.
THIRD QUARTER
LMU and Lander would trade goals to begin the third with Adam Mather scoring the first goal of the period for Lander.
After first tying the game at 6-6, a Railsplitter goal with 7:11 gave the home side a 7-6 lead.
Wilcox found his third goal of the game with 4:33 left in the third to even the contest 7-7.
Lander would score two more unanswered goals with Jake Mintz and Brady Foote helping establish a 9-7 lead heading to the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
The Railsplitters fired off back-to-back goals to tie the game 9-9 with 12:45 left, but the Bearcats would answer with four consecutive goals. Kyle DeCrispino, Conroy, Oakey and Wilcox would all add to the scoring efforts in the final frame to help the Bearcats come away with their second straight win.
Nicholas Paige made 15 saves while playing the full 60 minutes to earn his second win of the season.
Lander returns to Greenwood to face North Greenville at Van Taylor Stadium on Saturday, February 25 for a 1 pm contest.
