Bristol, Tenn. -After being held to just 26 points in the first half, Lander outscored King 47-26 in the second half to defeat the Tornado 73-42 Tuesday afternoon.
With the score tied at two early in the game, Phillip Burwell drained a three-pointer to put Lnader up, and the Bearcats would never trail again. Lander would lead 26-16 at the break. The Bearcats would open the second half by outscoring King 14-6 to take a 40-22 lead. With 12:45 remaining, Torrin Andrews hit a three-point basket to push the Lander lead to 22. The Bearcats' defense would hold the Tornado to just four points in the final six and a half minutes and cruised to the win. The defense held King to 24% shooting from the floor and 10% from behind the three-point line.
Tommy Moore led Lander with 14 points on 5-7 shooting. Andrews and Inady Legiste each scored 10 points. Burwell had a game-high seven assists, and Ajang Aguek finished with a team-high nine rebounds.
