WINGATE, N.C. - Lander held off a second-half rally by Wingate and defeated the Bulldogs 79-72 Wednesday night.
Trailing 5-3, the Bearcats would get a three-point basket by Torrin Andrews to take a one-point lead. Lander would continue to lead by as many as seven points. Wingate would cut the lead to one point with 1:58 remaining in the first half. Nigel Colivn drained a three-pointer that started an 8-0 to end the half, and the Bearcats went to the locker room leading 40-31.
With 7:24 remaining in the game, Wingate would regain the lead 58-52, but the lead would be short-lived when Noah Dunn hit a three-point basket to give Lander the 59-58 lead, and they would never trail again.
Noah Dunn led a group of four Bearcats in double figures, scoring 18 points with nine rebounds. Tommy Moore had 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Nigel Colvin added 15 points, and Dominic Stanford had 14 points for Lander.
