GREENWOOD - In a battle of two of the top four scoring teams in the Peach Belt, North Georgia held on for a 1-0 win Wednesday night.
Despite both teams averaging 2.2 goals a game, the defenses were on display as both teams were held to just two shots on goal. For the First 54 minutes of the game, neither team could get a shot on goal. In the 55th minute, the Nighthawks would score on a penalty kick to break the 0-0 tie. About a minute later, Leah Hayes Coen made a save to keep North Georgia from adding to their lead. The Bearcats would get an opportunity to tie the game in the 69th minute when Lucy Bova and Emma Sexton each fired a shot on goal. Sierra Fowler made the save to keep Lander scoreless and North Georgia held on for the win.
