GREENWOOD - Lander and North Greenville battled to a 1-1 tie Thursday night in the season-opening game for both teams.
In the first two minutes, Lander jumped on the offensive early with back-to-back shots by Emma Sexton and Maren White. The two teams then battled back and forth throughout the second half, with neither team finding the back of the net.
In the 64th minute, Elainee Sprinkle scored to give the Crusaders the lead. The lead lasted less than a minute as Sexton scored to tie the game at one. The two teams had several opportunities to take the lead but could not score and the game ended in a tie.
Making her first start in goal, Taylor Frew recorded seven saves for Lander.
