HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Competing in its second straight PBC Tournament semifinals, the Lander men's lacrosse team fell 12-8 to the Montevallo Falcons on Friday at Charger Park on the campus of Alabama-Huntsville.
Lander finishes the season with an overall record of 11-6 while Montevallo moves to 10-7 overall.
Liam Mackay made 22 saves against the Falcons as he played the entire game for Lander.
Nolan Oakey led the Bearcats in scoring with three goals while Chance Hainey and Rob Gadomski both had two goals each. Oakey, who also had an assist, led Lander in points with four. Carter Wilcox led the Bearcats in ground balls with three while also scoring a goal and causing a turnover. Six Bearcats were tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with one each.
The Bearcats found themselves down 6-2 at the half. The Blue and Gold did lead 2-0 after the first period after Oakey and Hainey both scored. Montevallo would respond with six unanswered goals in the second period.
The third period would see the Bearcats bounce back with four goals to trail by just two goals after Wilcox, Hainey, Oakey and Gadomski all scored to put Lander back 8-6.
The Falcons would score four goals of their own in the fourth while holding Lander to just two goals to take the 12-8 victory.
