GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team returns home to Dolny Stadium this weekend to battle Augusta in conference action on Friday and Saturday.

STORYLINES
- Lander is coming off a 16-13 loss at Erskine on Wednesday.
- The Bearcats were up 13-10 going into the bottom of the eight but allowed six runs to score.
- Matthew Burgess had three hits and six RBI which featured a double and a home run against the Flying Fleet. Landon Dupert also had a three-hit game against Erskine, as he brought home three runs and had a home run as well.
- Lander also fell on Tuesday in a high-scoring game to North Greenville, with the final score 17-11 in favor of the Crusaders.
- Lander had scored 10 or more runs in seven of its last 10 games. When scoring 10 or more runs, Lander is 7-3 so far this season.
- As a team, Lander is hitting .276 this season, which sees the, tied with North Georgia for third in the PBC.
- Lander is currently third in the conference in doubles (61), first in triples (7), third in home runs (30), second in RBI (203) and third in stolen bases (39).
- Vincent DeRubeis is fifth in the PBC in batting average with a .372 average this season and tied for sixth in RBI with 29. Ethan Wilder is 15th in the conference in hits with 36 and tied for first in triples with three.
- Behind DeRubeis in batting average for the Bearcats is Connor Droze. He's hitting .350 this season and has 21 hits, five doubles, one triple, three home runs and 18 RBI with a slugging percentage of .683.
- After Wilder's team-leading 35 hits is DeRubeis with 32. Burgess and Dupert are tied for third with 31 each.
- Mason Streater, Walker McDowell and Wilder are all tied for the team lead in doubles with eight.
- DeRubeis leads the way with six home runs and is followed closely by Droze's five and Streater's four home runs.
- Bennett Sloper currently leads the Bearcats in ERA with a 3.24 this season. Sloper is 3-2 this season through seven appearances and starts. He's thrown 33.1 innings while allowing just 12 earned runs and striking out 29.
- Bennett Nance leads the pitching staff in strikeouts with 38 this season. He's 3-1 through nine appearances and eight starts. Nance also leads the team in innings pitched with 42.2. Zach Pellegrino leads the Bearcats in appearances with 18. Evan Mauldin, Kurt Rogers and Braeden Burton are all tied for second with 14 appearances.
- Augusts comes into the series with a 10-18 overall record and a 3-9 PBC record. The Jaguars are coming off a pair of losses as well, as they fell to Newberry 8-3 on March 29 and USC Aiken in a non-conference game 7-5 on March 30.
- This series will march the 57th, 58th and 59th meeting between the two schools in baseball. Lander currently holds a 36-20 record over Augusta.
- Lander went 2-1 against the Jaguars last season, winning the first game 11-5, dropping the second game 18-7 and winning the third game of the series 11-1.
- Pat Galvin leads the Jaguars in batting average with a .371 average this season. He's also the leader in hits (43), doubles (9), is tied for the lead in triples (1) and is tied for third in RBI (17).
- Lukas Coker and Ben Markiewicz are tied for the team lead in home runs with four each. Jordan Wilkie and Harrison Aulds are leading the Jaguars in RBI with 21.
- Britt Kelly leads the Jaguars in ERA with a 2.35 clip this season. Kelly had made 11 appearances and has recorded one save. He's thrown 23 innings this season and has only allowed six earned runs while striking out 16.
- Chase Horton leads the Jaguars in wins with three. Cotton Phillips has made a team-high 14 appearances along with two starts. Mason Bernard leads the team in innings pitched with 43.2 after eight appearances and seven starts while also leading the way in strikeouts this season with 36.
- Augusta is set to travel to Anderson on April 6 while Lander will travel to face Belmont Abbey on April 5 for its next contest.
