Bearcats shut out Flagler 4-0 in series opener

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Lander held Flagler to just three hits as the Bearcats defeated Flagler 4-0 Friday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference series opener.

KEY INNINGS 
TOP 1 Sage Jones drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bridgett Tierney.  Shannon Antonini then doubled to left center to score Jones and give Lander the lead.  A single by Barbara Cook moved Antonini to third and she then scored when Cook got into a rundown to make it a 2-0 game.  
TOP 7 Haven Pesce was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.  Gracie Derrick then pinch ran for Pesce and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Lauren Collie.  A single by Naya Jones moved Derrick to third base.  Jones then stole second base and Sage Jones followed with a two run single to give the Bearcats some breathing room. 
BOT 7 Rebecca Boesen retired the Saints in order to end the game and pick up her second complete game shutout in conference play.
