Baseball gets set to host Georgia Southwestern for conference action starting Friday

GREENWOOD – Winners of its last five games, the Lander baseball team looks to keep the good times rolling with a conference series against Georgia Southwestern at Dolny Stadium starting Friday.

STORYLINES

  • Lander is coming off an 11-9 victory over Anderson on Tuesday.
  • Tyler Prell had two hits, one being a double, and three RBI against the Trojans. Ethan Wilder also had a multi-hit night against Anderson with a triple in the mix.
  • Lander has gone 2-0 against Anderson this season, with the first win coming at home on February 22 with the Bearcats winning 8-6. Lander is now 19-12 all-time against Anderson.
  • The Bearcats are also 4-2 in midweek games this season.
  • The Bearcats went 2-1 against Georgia Southwestern last season, as Lander lost the final game of the series 8-6 on the road.
  • Vincent DeRubeis leads the Bearcats in batting average with a .355 average this season. He's second on the team in hits with 27 behind Wilder's 29, tied for second in doubles with four, leads Lander in home runs with six and RBI with 27.
  • Wilder leads the squad in hits (29) along with doubles (8). He's currently tied with Mason Streater and Ian Jenkins in triples with one.
