STORYLINES
- The Bearcats are coming off a 7-4 victory over Francis Marion on Tuesday.
- Lander scored seven runs on 10 hits, with Matthew Burgess and Landon Dupert having multi-hit games for Lander.
- The Bearcats hit three doubles, one triple and a three-run home run from Chase Dougherty which was his first hit of the season.
- Michael Nastro started the game with three scoreless innings along with one strikeout. Kurt Rogers got the win while Evan Mauldin delt a scoreless ninth inning, striking out all three batters, to earn his first save.
- As a team, Lander is hitting .273, which puts them in the top-five among PBC teams.
- The Bearcats have 200 hits this season, which features 41 doubles, four triples and 18 home runs. Lander is tied for second in the PBC for triples (4) and is third in home runs (18). The Bearcats are also 21-of-24 in stolen base attempts.
- Ian Jenkins leads the team with a batting average of .377. In 15 appearances and 14 starts Jenkins has 20 hits, 10 runs, five doubles, one triple, three home runs and 18 RBI.
- Dupert, Vincent DeRubeis and Bradley Davis are all hitting above .300 as well.
- DeRubeis and Mason Streater are tied for the lead in hits with 23. Walker McDowell has the most doubles so far this season with six, while Burgess leads the Bearcats with three triples. DeRubeis is also the team's leader in home runs with six on the season and RBI with 22.
- Gary Garrett, Streater and Dupert have all stolen three bases this season.
- Mauldin has the most wins for Lander this season with three in 10 appearances and one start. Zach Pellegrino is leading the Bearcats in ERA with a 2.84 through 12 appearances. Those 12 appearances lead the team.
- Rogers currently leads the team in saves with three while Garrett Major and Mauldin both have recorded one.
- Bennett Nance has thrown the most innings this season with 31.0. Sloper is second with 27.1 innings of work.
- Nance (28), Sloper (26) and Mauldin (20) are the only three Bearcats with 20 or more strikeouts this season. Nick Foray (19) and Bryce Jackson (18) are the next two closest to that mark.
- Compared to the rest of the country, Lander is 66th in total doubles, 72nd in total hits, 71st in total home runs, 75th in WHIP and 54th in walks allowed per nine innings. Rogers is tied for 25th in the nation with his three saves, Burgess is tied for 56th in triples while Mauldin is 18th in walks allowed per nine innings.
- Claflin comes into this series 1-8 overall and 0-6 in PBC play. The Panthers defeated Voorhees College (NAIA) 7-1 to begin the season but have gone 0-8 since.
- The Panthers most recently lost three straight to Georgia Southwestern by a combined score of 41-4.
- As a team, Claflin is hitting .243, which is last among PBC teams.
- Steve Joyner leads the Panthers with a .522 batting average. He's played and started in all nine games and has complied 16 hits, one double, two home runs and eight RBI this season. Kobe Miller and Joshua Cooper are the only other Panthers to hit above .200, with Miller hitting .355 and Cooper hitting .321. Miller has 11 hits, two doubles, one triple and five RBI while Cooper had nine hits, one double, one triple and one RBI.
- Kyle Hawks holds the Panthers only win this season. He's made four starts and had thrown a team-high 15 innings. Charles Jackson is the only other Panther pitcher to deal 10 or more innings this season, as he's gone 12.1 innings this season. Hawkins also leads the Panthers in strikeouts with 12.
- Claflin will host Augusta in conference action starting on March 25 next while Lander will travel to face Anderson in a non-conference meeting on March 22 next.
