Zeth Brower becomes Lander Wrestling's first-ever National Champion

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Becoming Lander wrestling's first-ever All-American, Zeth Brower upped the ante and became the first Bearcat to be named a National Champion after winning the championship match 6-4 Saturday evening at Chaifetz Arena.

Brower began his day against Joey Bianchini of No. 3 St. Cloud State. Bianchini was ranked No. 1 at 141 with Brower ranked No. 4 in the last NWCA rankings. Brower and Bianchini battled hard in the first, with the Huskey up 2-1 after getting the first takedown. The second period would see Brower use a reversal 54 seconds into the period to tie things up at 3-3 after Bianchini got an escape. Bianchini would pick bottom to start period three and Brower would ride him for the entire period to get riding time and win 4-3.

In the 141-championship match, Brower went up against Branson Proudlock of Findlay. Proudlock was ranked No. 2 in the last NWCA rankings while Findlay was tied for 18th as a team.

With a National Championship on the line, Brower and Proudlock battled to an even 2-2 first period after Proudlock got an early takedown while Brower used a reversal to even out the first frame.

The second period would once again see the two tied, this time at 4-4. Brower used a pair of escapes to get his two points while Proudlock got a takedown on Brower for his two points.

The third and final period would see only Blue and Gold score, as Brower's takedown was enough to clinch the win.
