GREENWOOD - The eighth-ranked Lander men's tennis team swept Lees-McRae 7-0 Wednesday afternoon in their home-opening match.
In doubles play, Hugo Regner and Markus Sorensen defeated Max Borisov and Landon Church 6-3 at the number one spot. Matthew De Groot and Bailey Horne took down Hanqing Wang and Sam Jones 6-3 and number two, and Nick Beamish and Ludvig Danielsson defeated Andy Tallafigo and Azequiel Arce 6-4 to take the double point.
Playing at the number one spot, Horne narrowly lost the first set to Wang 7-6. Bailey rebounded to win the second set 6-3 and the third set 10-5 to take the win. Reigning Player of the Week, Alexandre Crepy defeated Church in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. De Groot, Baradel, Nick Beamish, and Mouad Naoui also won their matches in straight sets to seal the win.
The Bearcats return to action as they host Converse at 2:30 PM.
