FLORENCE, S.C. - The #8 Lander opened up the spring by winning the City of Florence Invitational this weekend.
In their first-round match, the Bearcats defeated former Peach Belt foe Francis Marion 4-0. Lander took the doubles point with wins by Thomas De Negri and Alexandre Crepy, and Hugo Regne, and Nick Beamish, each by a score of 6-2.
De Negri, Crepy, and Emilien Baradel won their singles matches in straight sets to clinch the win.
The Bearcats then defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 4-0 to advance to the Championship. Lander took the double points with wins from De Negri and Crepy as well as Regner and Markus Sorensen. Crepy, De Groot, and Baradel won their singles matches in straight sets.
In the Championship match, Lander continued their dominating performance defeating Barton 4-0. Regner and Sorensen and De Negri and Crepy both won their doubles matches to take the doubles point.
De Negri, Regner, and Baradel swept their singles matches in straight sets to clinch the Championship.
