GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team gets the 2022 season underway with a home against Erskine to begin the season before traveling to Due West, S.C. to conclude the series.

STORYLINES
- Lander will begin the 2022 season with a split series against the Erskine Flying Fleet.
- The first game will be played at Dolny Stadium while a doubleheader is set for Grier Field the following day.
- Lander won both games against Erskine last season. The Bearcats battled to a 12-10 victory to begin the season and then grounded Erskine in game two, winning 13-0.
- Lander has won the last four straight meetings and is 8-2 in the previous 10 games.
- The Bearcats own a 30-15 series record that sees the Blue and Gold 20-4 all-time at home against Erskine.
- Lander was recently picked to finish eighth in the 2022 PBC preseason poll.
- Columbus State was picked to finish first in the PBC after receiving six first-place votes.
- Lander will see plenty of new faces, with five of its top-six hitters no longer on the team heading into the 2022 campaign. The Bearcats will also see plenty of fresh faces on the mound this season. The Bearcats will be without all three of their primary starters
- Lander will look to improve on an up-and-down season that saw them ranked in the top-25 for the first time since 2016.
- Erskine was picked to finish seventh in the 2022 Conference Carolinas preseason poll.
- The Bearcats have a pair of games coming up against North Greenville, who was picked to finish first after receiving seven first-place votes.
- Lander will be holding its Hall of Fame Ceremony on February 4, with Patrick Grady, Erik Lunde and Kermit Smith set to be inducted.
- The Bearcats will host North Greenville for a pair of games at Dolny Stadium on February 8 and February 11 at 4 and 6 pm.
