GREENWOOD – The Lander men's lacrosse team had another impressive win, as the Bearcats took down Coker 21-8 under the lights of Emerald High School on Wednesday.
Lander moves to 5-0 overall while Coker drops to 0-4.
The Bearcats have outscored their opponents 94-37 in their five game winning streak to begin the season.
Quinn Ingalls and Adam Mather led the Bearcats in goals with three each. Krew Conroy, Rob Gadomski, Carter Wilcox and Drew Wilson all had two goals each. Nolan Oakey and Mather had three assists while Mather led the team in points with six. Blake Moore led the team with six ground balls collected while 11 Bearcats caused a turnover.
The first quarter was close between the two sides, with Lander leading 3-2 after the first 15 minutes of action. Ingalls got the Bearcats on the board with the game's first goal with 8:44 remaining before Tyler Kralj and Mather scored to put Lander up 3-0 with 7:47 remaining. The Cobras would score back-to-back goals before the end of the quarter while tying the contest 3-3 with a second-quarter goal with 13:39 left.
Lander would counter with five goals in the second quarter to begin to extend its lead. Oakey and Conroy both scored their two goals in the second frame while Chance Hainey also added to the fun to put Lander up 8-3 at the half.
Lander would put up 13 goals compared to Coker's five in the second half to come away with the 21-8 smack down.
Liam Mackay played just under 30 minutes against Coker and picked up his fifth win of the season after making six saves. Nicholas Paige made six saves in 25 minutes of action while Rhys Peterson made a save in five minutes of action against Coker.
Lander heads back to the road for its next game, as the Bearcats travel to face North Greenville on March 5.
