GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the second time this season,
Zeth Brower has been named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Wrestler of The Week.
The conference office announced the award Tuesday afternoon, with this being the third weekly award the No. 4 Bearcats have received this season.
As part of a third-place finish for Lander as a team at the Midwest Classic, Brower took first place at 141 after going 5-0 with two pins and a win by major decision.
Brower started the Midwest Classic with a 12-2 major decision over Leslie Davenport of Wiliam Jewell. He'd then defeat James Ryan of Gannon 7-2 before recording his first pin against Laken Boese of the University of Mary in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, Brower would take on No. 6 Christian Small of Lake Erie. Small wrestled for King last season and fell to Brower in the NCAA National Championships. Brower would earn his second pin of the Midwest Classic after pinning Small in the first period.
The Bearcats came away with a first-place trophy after Brower defeated Peter Kuster of Drury 9-2. Brower was particularly active in the third period as he recorded two escapes, a takedown and a point from riding time. He also got a four-point near fall in the second period.
