Florence, S.C. - Lander took number one seeded Florida Southern to the wire, coming within one overtime point of winning the Rocket League Peach Belt Championship.
The Bearcats entered the finals after dropping their winner bracket game to Florida Southern on Saturday morning 0-3, and then winning their loser bracket game against Kennesaw State 3-1. In order to win the title, Lander would have to win two best-of-seven games against undefeated Florida Southern.
The ESports team was led in the finals by Brandon Pack (Papa Pack), Harrison Bell (slimey), and Tyler Berry (slime_berry). ESports was able to win the first best-of-seven series 4-1. The Bearcats then fell behind in the second series and took the lead 3-2. After Florida Southern triumphed in game six, the Bearcats and Moccasins would go scoreless in game seven, bringing a sudden death overtime. The Mocs scored first to take the PBC Rocket League Championship.
Lander finishes Rocket League with a record of 9-5 placing second in the tournament.
