GREENWOOD, S.C. -  Needing just 4 goals to set the all-time scoring record for Lander in Rocket League, Senior Joel Guillen entered Tuesday's match vs. Georgia with confidence and poise. The record was previously held by Brandon Pack who graduated in Spring 2025. Pack set the bar high with 465 goals in 484 games during his time with the Bearcats, averaging 0.96 goals per game. Guillen crossed the mark in his 507th game, averaging 0.94 goals per game. Pack set the record in 1413 shots, Guillen surpassed it and added 13 more goals to set the new bar at 480 in just 1418 shots. Lander would go on to rout Georgia in a 3-0 shutout, outpacing the Bulldogs by a score of 28-4.

"I'm not surprised that Joel is the one who broke it. Watching this program grow into what it is now has been amazing, and Joel's played a big part in taking it to that next level. Nobody deserves this more than him, and I can't wait to see where Lander Esports goes from here." Pack said about Guillen surpassing him on Tuesday night. Guillen is also the all-time assist leader and only 86 saves away from claiming the defensive record as well.

STATEMENT FROM JOEL GUILLEN
"I am incredibly honored to become the goal-scoring record holder here at Lander. I couldn't have achieved this without the unwavering support of my teammates who assisted me along the way. Special thanks go to my coach, Billy Howard, who refused to let me quit whenever I doubted my own potential. He never gave up on me, and I am deeply grateful to him for giving me the opportunity to be in this position. For me, it was never about setting a record; this is simply the byproduct of relentless grinding and hard work. I've faced immense losses and endured heavy challenges throughout my career, but failure is what ultimately built my character. I also want to give an honorable mention to Brandon Pack ('Pack') and Brandon Eisenstein ('Invictus'), my rookie-season teammates. They mentored and trained me until their graduation, and I couldn't have done this without their guidance. Pack set the bar high and established the standard for Lander's Rocket League program. He is truly an inspiration who shouldn't be forgotten as this program continues to grow. Much love to my family and friends for their endless support, and to the entire esports program for becoming a family to me. This coming spring, I plan to push that bar as high as I possibly can, not just to leave a legacy, but to challenge the next generation to outwork the record and become the best versions of themselves."

Guillen and the Rocket League team will be back in action on Wednesday in NECC action against Clemson University at 8 PM.
