BEAUFORT, S.C. - Lander scored a season-high four goals en route to a 4-1 victory over USC Beaufort in the first meeting between the two teams.
Marren White scored on a pass from Claire Regnault in the third minute of the game to give the Bearcats the early lead. Lander continued to hold the one-goal lead until Romie Llewellyn scored on an assite from White to make it 2-0 in the 32nd minute. Lander continued to hold the Sand Sharks scoreless until the 66th minute when Mari Kalvatn scored to make it a one-goal game. At the 69:38 mark, Alaire Hodge found the back of the net on a double assist from Mary Moosbrugger and Llewellyn to extend the lead back to two goals. Less than a minute later, Llewellyn would score her second goal of the game to finish the scoring for the Bearcats.
Lander outshot Beaufort 20-4, with the defense holding the Sand Sharks to just two shots on goal.
