GREENWOOD, S.C. - Limestone defeated Lander 3-1 Wednesday evening in non-conference women's soccer action.
Early in the first half, Lander just missed taking the early lead when Emma Sexton's shot hit off the post in the fourth minute. Neither team could find the back of the net for the next 33 minutes until Sarah Schwaninger scored to put the Saints up 1-0. In the next two minutes, Limestone added two more goals to take a 3-0 lead into the half.
The Saint defense continued to keep the Bearcats off the board to start the second half, but in the 71st minute, Sexton put Lander on the board with an assist from Kara Yandle. However, that would be the only score for the Bearcats as the Saints took the victory.
Lander returns to action this Saturday as they travel to take on Columbus State in Peach Belt Conference play.
