Bearcats welcome Georgia College to Dolny Stadium for three games

GREENWOOD - The Lander men's baseball team continues its current home stretch as it welcomes Georgia College to Dolny Stadium this Friday and Saturday.

STORYLINES

  • The Bearcats are coming off a tough series against Young Harris. Lander stayed competitive with the Mountain Lions, losing 7-4, 6-5, 11-7 in the sweep.
  • Lander has now lost its last seven games. This is the longest losing streak since losing nine games in a row in 2019.
  • Jack Fox came in and pitched 6.1 innings in relief in game three of the series while picking up 10 strikeouts in the process.
  • Mason Streater put together a nice performance over the last three games, compiling six hits, two doubles, one home run, and two RBI.
  • Justin Wager was clutch for the Blue and Gold against the Mountain Lions in game two of the series. Down 5-2 in eighth, Wager came into pinch hit and doubled to right field to score two runs to put Lander within one of Young Harris, helping to extend the game into extra innings. Wager came in to pinch-hit game three, sending a triple in the seventh inning to score a run to put Lander within one run of Young Harris.
  • After a month on the road, this will be the third consecutive series played at Dolny Stadium for the Bearcats.
  • Through 29 games this season Lander is hitting .284 as a team. The Bearcats also have 34 home runs, an on-base percentage of .388 and a slugging percentage of .455.
  • Roury Glanton continues to lead the Bearcats in hits, now with 43. Glanton is also first in triples (3), home runs (10) and RBI (32). He's batting .355 on the season along with an OBP of .434 and a .727 slugging percentage.
  • Streater is now second on the team in hits with 40 and leads the Bearcats in doubles with 10. He also has five home runs and 21 RBI. Streater is batting a team-best .364 and has an OBP of .457 and a slugging percentage of .591.
  • Georgia College is coming in with an overall record of 14-12 and 12-11 in PBC action. The Bobcats most recently split a pair of games against Francis Marion on April 7.
  • Cal Gentry leads GCSU in hits with 38 along with a team-best seven doubles. Gentry is hitting .325 and has 19 RBI and four home runs.
  • Josh Hudgins has started and appeared in seven contests for the Bobcats. He's pitched 42.2 innings so far this season and has a 3-2 record. Hudgins has allowed 37 hits, 17 runs, 16 earned runs along with striking out 44 and has an ERA of 3.38.
  • Lander will see a break from conference action as it travels to face Wingate on April 14.
