GREENWOOD – The No. 22 Lander baseball team is back in action on Wednesday as it travels to Belmont Abbey for a single midweek contest against the Crusaders.

STORYLINES
- The Bearcats went 1-2 against Flagler in their last series. The first two games saw the Saints win in walk-off fashion while the third game saw the Bearcats demolish the Saints 15-4 in seven innings of play.
- In the third game, Lander saw three home runs create 10 of its 15 runs. Junior Bo Richey brought in six runs with two home runs on the day. Sophomore Tyler Prell brought in the other four runs with a grand slam. Junior Carson Schlegel struck out seven Saints in six innings of work to earn the win.
- As a team this season, Lander is hitting .306 along with an on-base percentage of .433 and a slugging percentage of .494.
- The Bearcats are currently third in the PBC for batting average, they trail only Francis Marion and Georgia College. Lander is also second in the conference in doubles with 29, tied for third in triples with three, tied for second in home runs with 15 and second in RBI with 103.
- Senior Roury Glanton currently leads the squad in hits with 20, he's also tied for the most doubles with five on the season. The big slugger had has the lead for triples with three and is in a three-way tie for the most home runs with three. He's also tied for the lead for RBI with 13 and is second on the team in batting average with .408.
- Senior Ward Betts leads the Bearcats in batting average with .413, is second in hits with 19 and is tied with Glanton for doubles and RBI. Betts also has an on-base percentage of .500.
- Both Glanton and Betts reside within the top-10 in the PBC for hits and doubles. Glanton is in the top-10 for home runs and triples as well.
- Junior Mason Streater is third on the team in hits with 17 and has four doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI on the season while hitting .386.
- After picking up the win against Flagler in game three of the season, Schlegel is 2-0 on the season while pitching 16 innings so far. He's only allowed 10 earned runs while striking out 17. Grad student Marshall Thompson continues to lead the Bearcats in wins and strikeouts with three and 36 respectively. Thompson has a k-per-9 rate of 11.57 while allowing just 24 hits and 12 runs in 28 innings of work.
- As a team, the Bearcats have the best ERA among the PBC with a collective 4.41. They've also collected a conference-high five saves so far this season.
- Lander has also given up the fifth-lowest earned runs among PBC schools with 51. The Bearcats are also tied with Flagler for the most strikeouts among PBC schools with 127.
- Teams are hitting .250 collectively against the Bearcat pitching staff, which is the third-lowest in the conference.
- The Crusaders are currently 10-4 overall and 9-3 in Conference Carolinas. They also spot a 9-1 record at home.
- Belmont Abbey is coming off a four-game sweep of Southern Wesleyan, as the Crusaders won a pair of doubleheaders on March 5 and 6.
- Sean Johnson leads the Crusaders in batting average with .361. He also has 13 hits, three doubles, one triple, two home runs and eight RBI. Mason Dodd is the hits leader with 17. Three of those are double and he has one triple and one home run along with 15 RBI.
- Jason White is leading Belmont Abbey pitching-wise with a 3-0 record and a .50 ERA through three starts. He has two complete games this season as well. He's allowed just one earned run on nine hits and has struck out 23 batters. Hitters are hitting a combined .148 against him.
- Lander returns to conference action this weekend as it travels to take on Francis Marion on March 13 and 14.
