Bearcats overwhelmed by UNC Pembroke

GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team had a rough go of things against the UNC Pembroke Braves on Sunday, with the Bearcats falling 17-4.

Lander drops to 14-11 overall and 10-10 in the PBC while UNC Pembroke advances to 19-5 overall and 15-3 in the PBC.

Senior Roury Glanton brought home all four runs for the Bearcats.

After the Braves went up 2-0 in the first, Glanton sent a solo shot over the left field fence to make it a 2-1 ball game in the bottom of the third.

Glanton would work his magic again in the seventh inning. Down 16-1, Glanton drilled a three-run home run to center field to make it 16-4.

Grad student Justin Walker went 4.2 innings in the start. He allowed 10 hits, nine runs, one walk and stuck out three as he picked up the loss.

The Bearcats travel to Fluor Field on March 30 to battle the North Greenville Crusaders for its next game.
