STORYLINES
· Lander is entering its 24th season.
· The Bearcats are 11-11 all-time in season openers.
· Although playing at home, Lander will be the visitors for Thursday's game.
· The Blue and Gold battled the Flying Fleet last season to begin the year, dropping the first before winning the last two of the three-game series.
· All-time against Erskine, Lander is 32-15 along with winning eight of the last 10 games between the two squads.
· The Bearcats are coming off a 13-8 overall season and were 7-4 in conference. Lander had won three of their last four games before the season had come to an end.
· Erskine went 17-8-1 overall and 6-3-0 in conference.
· As a team, Lander hit .265 along with having a .356 on-base percentage, a .422 slugging percentage and hit 25 home runs.
· Josh Gregory led the squad last season with a .350 batting average while playing in 20 games. The redshirt junior also scored 18 runs, had 21 hits, five home runs along with 18 RBI.
· Redshirt junior Evan Harold led the Bearcats with seven home runs and 26 hits. Harold was second in RBI with 24.
· Senior Roury Glanton led the team with 26 RBI.
· Lander sees a crop of fresh faces to take the mound this season. Among those being junior Carson Schlegel who went 5-1 in six appearances and five starts. He threw 35.1 innings, allowed six earned runs while striking out 22 with an ERA of 1.53.
· Grad student Justin Walker returns after leading the team with 38 strikeouts. Walker threw 33.1 innings with 15 earned runs. He also had a K/9 of 10.26.
· Fellow grad student Marshall Thompson returns after a K/9 of 16.20 in 10 appearances. Thompson had one win along with 21 strikeouts.
