Men's basketball hosts USC Aiken for last home game of the season

GREENWOOD – The Lander men's basketball team will play its final home game of the season on Saturday as it hosts USC Aiken.

STORYLINES

Lander is coming off of a trio of heart-breaking home losses last week. Two of them went into overtime, with the most recent loss to Augusts going into double overtime. Lander fell 99-97 to the Jaguars.
Junior Jared Sherfield had a season-high 28 points against Augusta to lead the Bearcats. He also had four rebounds and one steal. Senior Deon Berrien joined Sherfield with 20+ points, scoring 25 himself. Berrien also had six assists and five rebounds.
Four Bearcats are scoring in double figures this season. Junior Jermaine Patterson leads the team with 13.9 points per game, Berrien is close behind with 13.6, Senior DaJuan Moorer is scoring 11.3 points per game while Sherfield is scoring 10.7 points per game.
Moorer and Berrien continue to be the leaders in rebounding, with Moorer owning the team-high of 6.9 rebounds per game and Berrien close behind with 6.2 per game.
Lander is fifth as a team in scoring in the PBC, as the Bearcats average 78.3 points per game. On the other side of things, the Bearcats are allowing the fourth-most points per game, with opponents scoring 78.2 points per game.
The Bearcats currently have made the most 3-pointers in the league with 142 on 393 attempts. They're hitting an average of 9.5 per game this season.
This will be the fourth time these two teams have met this season. Lander is currently 1-3 against the Pacers so far. The lone win came on December 12 where the Blue and Gold won 82-73.
