GREENWOOD – After beginning its season with a perfect weekend, the Lander baseball team looks to keep things rolling with a visit from Claflin this Friday and Saturday.

STORYLINES
- The Bearcats are seeing their first 3-0 start to a season since the 2014 season. Lander advanced to the Div. II world series that season.
- Lander is coming off a non-conference victory over Queens on February 7. Lander had 10+ hits for the third consecutive game.
- Senior Roury Glanton went 2-for-4 which included a double and triple while senior Ward Betts went 4-for-4 with a double and homerun thrown in for good measure.
- Betts is currently the Div. II leader in batting average with an average of .727 through the first three games.
- Betts leads the Bearcats in hits, runs, batting average and on base percentage.
- A Bearcat has picked up a save in every game so far, as redshirt senior Praise Thorsen, grad student Jack Fox, and redshirt sophomore Zeke Stephens have earned a save.
- Lander defeated Claflin twice last season, with the third game of the series getting canceled. The Bearcats defeated the Panthers 10-6 in the first game and 6-4 in the second.
- Claflin comes in with a 1-2 record overall and in conference. They most recently went up against North Georgia.
- Gerardric Dobbs currently leads the Panthers with a .400 batting average. In 10 at-bats he has four hits, one double and three RBI. Two Panthers have multiple doubles while Keyon Smith is the lone batter to hit a home run. Smith also has two doubles and a .364 batting average.
- After Claflin, the Bearcats have their first weekday matchup, with Wingate coming to town on February 16.
