LUBBOCK, Texas - Top ranked Lander ran past St. Mary's 65-50 to wrap up their road trip to Texas.
Trailing 7-5 in the first quarter, Lander went on an 11-3 run to take a 16-10 lead into the second quarter.
A three-point basket by Sarah Crews to start the second period extended the lead to nine. The Bearcats would extend their lead to 14 points midway through the period. St. Mary's slowly chipped away at the deficit and made it a 31-23 game at the half. Lander outscored the Rattlers 34-27 to take the victory.
Zamiya Passmore led all scorers with 24 points and recorded ten rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Makaila Cangé had her fourth-straight double-double to start the season with 16 points and a team-high 14 boards. The Bearcats took advantage of the offensive boards, outscoring St. Mary's 16-5 in second-chance points.
