HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Going up against a team that recently took down No. 2 Flagler the day before, the Bearcats began the game of with an initial 14-5 run to kick the game off. During that span, Lander saw points from Deandre Robinson, Martin Voghts, Jared Sherfield and LaRaymond Spivery.
Of the 42 points scored in the first frame, Robinson put up 16, going 6-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point range.
Anderson was able to get within one point of the Bearcats with 10:40 remaining before a 3-pointer from Spivery and Zane Rankin helped bring Lander's lead to five with a Trojan jumper splitting up the Bearcats deep shots.
Lander would conclude the first half on a 13-4 run spanning the last four minutes of play. Navaugh Maise began the scoring run with a jumper in the pain before Robinson hit a pair of 3-pointers that were countered with a jumper in the paint from Anderson. Sherfield slammed home a dunk while Robinson sank another 3-pointer while Anderson scored another jumper to make it 42-31 at the half.
Second Half
Within the first five and a half minutes of play in the second half, Anderson had cut the Bearcats lead to two points with a 14-4 run that was curbed by a layup from Sherfield with 13:25 remaining.
The Trojans would respond with 34 points in the second half, with Lander putting up 23.
Always ready to shoot a healthy amount of 3-pointers, the Bearcats could not get their long-range shooting down, as the Blue and Gold went 1-for-10 from deep in the second half.
Lander was able to keep Anderson at bay until the 7:30 mark when the Trojans took the lead on a 3-pointer from Quin Nottingham.
Anderson grew its lead to seven, as the Trojans led 65-58 with 2:13 remaining. Not wanting to go quiet, the Bearcats strung together a 7-0 run to force overtime with a jumper coming first from Rankin, a pair of free throws sunk by Dominic Stanford and a clutch 3-point basket from Voghts with 30 seconds to tie the game at 65.
The Trojans went for the final shot, sending a pass to the near corner for a game-winning 3-point shot that ultimately clanked off the iron.
Overtime
The Bearcats were first to get on the board when DaJuan Moorer hit a free throw to give Lander an early one-point lead. Anderson would respond with a pair of free throws and a jump shot to go up by three with 3:06 left in overtime.
Lander would get within one point of Anderson after Stanford hit a pair of free throws with 1:49 remaining, but the Trojans would hold firm and not allow the Bearcats to score for the remainder of the overtime period.

The Bearcats head to Finis Horne Arena for the first home game of the season on November 17. Lander will host Southern Wesleyan for a 7 pm start.
