Lander announces the addition of men's and women's Track and Field

GREENWOOD, S.C.: Lander Athletic Director Brian Reese has announced the addition of men's and women's track and field to the school's varsity sports portfolio.

"The addition of track and field will strengthen our athletic department in many different ways," said Reese. "Over the last several years we have received numerous emails and calls about starting a track and field program at Lander. Track and Field at the high school level in South Carolina is outstanding and we feel that we can have successful teams in the very near future. We are excited for the addition of track and field to the Bearcat family."

Men's and Women's Track and Field will start competition in the very competitive Peach Belt Conference in spring 2023.

Track and field is a well-established high school sport that has over 600,000 males and 480,000 females competing across the country. Lander becomes the 11th Division II school in South Carolina to offer track and field. The Bearcats join Anderson University, Benedict College, Coker University, Converse University, Erskine College, Francis Marion University, Limestone University, Newberry College, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University.
