Lander Tennis Recognized by ITA for Academic Success

GREENWOOD - The Lander men's and women's tennis programs were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their outstanding work in the classroom, as both teams earned ITA All-Academic Team honors while a combined 22 Bearcats were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Both Bearcat tennis programs earned ITA All-Academic Team recognition after posting outstanding team grade point averages during the 2025-26 academic year. The women's team recorded a 3.81 GPA, while the men's team finished with a 3.78 GPA.

In addition to the team honors, 22 Bearcats were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, including 10 members of the women's team and 12 from the men's team.

The ITA All-Academic Team award recognizes programs that achieve a cumulative team grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year. To qualify, all student-athletes must be listed on the institution's eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners are included in the team's cumulative GPA.

The ITA Scholar-Athlete award honors individual student-athletes who earn a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale during the current academic year while appearing on the institution's eligibility form.

The recognition continues a tradition of academic excellence for the Lander men's and women's tennis programs, highlighting the Bearcats' commitment to achieving success both in competition and in the classroom.
