Bearcats look to keep winning streak going with trip to Georgia College

GREENWOOD – The Lander men's basketball team is on a two-game winning streak after taking down Francis Marion at Horne Arena on Wednesday. The Bearcats now take a trip to Georgia College on Saturday with hopes of extending their winning streak.

STORYLINES

The Bearcats hit 14 3-pointers as the Blue and Yellow defeated the Francis Marion Patriots 90-79.
Lander has won two in a row along with three of its last four.
The streak of having three or more players in double figures in scoring continues for the Bearcats.
Senior Deon Berrien recorded another double-double as he led the Bearcats in scoring with 25 points. Berrien also had 10 rebounds along with three assists, one steal and two blocks.
Berrien is 10th in the PBC in rebounding with 7.1 rebounds per game. He's also third in total rebounds with 50 so far this season.
Junior Jermaine Patterson had 16 points and seven assists against the Patriots. Patterson is first in the PBC in total assists with 33 and is tied 18th nationally in total assists heading into Saturday's contest.
Patterson is also seventh among PBC players with 17.6 points per game and second in total points with 123 so far this season.
Senior Sidney Robinson and redshirt junior Zane Rankin both hit four 3-pointers. Rankin finished with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Robinson finished with 15 points, two assists and one steal.
The Bearcats and Bobcats faced each other three times last season, with Lander taking two of the three games. Lander took the first game 76-70 at Horne Arena before dropping the second in double OT at Georgia college 92-87. The Bearcats would storm back in the PBC semifinals, dominating the Bobcats 104-67.
The Bobcats are 1-2 this season, with all three games coming against conference opponents. They began the year off with a win against Francis Marion before losing the last two against Augusta and Georgia Southwestern.
Georgia College is currently scoring 69 points per game while letting up 71 points per game through its first three.
Jordan Thomas is currently leading the Bobcats in scoring, as he's averaging 15.7 points per game. Kohl Roberts, who is second in scoring with 15 points per game, is the leading rebounder with 7 rebounds per game.
The Bobcats finished last season with a 14-16 season overall. They also went an even 10-10 in the PBC. The Bobcats concluded their 2020 season with a loss to Lander in the PBC Semifinals.
