Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Lander baseball team fell to North Greenville in a close one Tuesday afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field at Ashmore Park.
With the loss, Lander falls to 2-2 while the Crusaders improve to 2-1-1 on the season.
Senior left-handed pitcher Fraser Ellard would start on the mound for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats would get on the scoreboard first thanks to a 3-run home run by Roury Glanton in the first inning. The Crusaders would use a sac fly and bases-loaded walk in the third to trim the deficit to one.
Evan Harold would smash an RBI double off the left-field wall to extend the Bearcat lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning. Two solo home runs in the sixth by North Greenville would tie the game at four.
The Crusaders would score two runs in the eighth inning to take the lead. The Bearcats would attempt to make a comeback were unable as they narrowly fell 6-4.
Reliever Dawson Taylor (1-0) was the winning pitcher for North Greenville. Bearcat relief pitcher Davis Agle (0-2) allowed one run in 0.1 innings to take the loss.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Friday when they face Cedarville. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm, and it will take place at Emmanuel.
