GREENWOOD - The Lander baseball team will open the 2020 season this weekend against rival Erskine. Saturday will be a doubleheader at Erskine starting at 11 a.m., while Monday's game is set for 5 p.m. at home.

STORYLINES
• Lander is participating in its 23rd season of baseball and the fourth under the direction of head coach Jason Burke.
• Lander leads the all-time series with Erskine, 32-15, and has won 16 of the last 17 against the Flying Fleet.
• Lander owns a 4-5 record in season openers dating back to 2010.
• The Bearcats are slated to face two teams ranked in the NCBWA preseason top-25 this year.
• Four Bearcat players are ranked in Perfect Game's top-30 Division II prospects, more than any other team in the country. Fraser Ellard is No. 9, Davis Agle is ranked No. 19, right-handed pitcher Marshall Thompson is ranked No. 23, and Roury Glanton sits at No. 29.
• Lander finished last season ranked 21st in the NCAA in home runs and returns the team's leading home run hitter Roury Glanton.
• Erskine posted a 29-25 overall record last season, 14-10 in the Conference Carolinas. Head coach Mark Crocco is in his third season at the helm of the Flying Fleet program.
