Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA. - The Lander men's basketball team defeated Flagler, 82-60, inside Flagler Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
With the win, Lander improves to 13-4, 7-2 PBC, while Flagler falls to 8-9, 4-5 PBC.
DeShundre Rucker led four Lander players in double figures with a season-high 18 points. The Greenville native finished the game 9-of-10 from the field, with six rebounds in the win.
Deon Berrien added 15 points while making two three-pointers. Elijah Alston had 12 points, eight rebounds, and a season-high four assists, Tyler Brevard added 10 points.
The Bearcats led the entire first half as hot shooting from three-point range allowed them to build a lead. Sidney Robinson came off the bench and provided a nice little scoring burst as he scored a quick six points to help add to the lead. The Bearcats ended the first half on a 19-5 run to take a 44-29 lead into halftime.
The Bearcats would come out of the break firing on all cylinders as they went on a 14-7 run to push the deficit to 20 points. After that, Flagler never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
Lander returns to action Saturday inside Finis Horne Arena when it faces USC Aiken (12-7, 8-1 PBC) in a pivotal conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm, and the game will be live-streamed on the Bearcat Broadcasting Network.
