Bearcats fall to No. 20 Nova Southeastern in rain-shortened series opener

GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team surrendered eight runs in the final three innings of a rain-shortened series opener against No. 20-ranked Nova Southeastern as the Bearcats fell to the Sharks, 8-1, in six innings at Dolny Stadium on Friday afternoon. 

Lander (8-12) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a solo home run from Carson Jones, but Nova Southeastern (11-6) answered with three runs in the fourth and fifth innings and two more in the sixth to take the victory. 

Alex Moore (3-2) allowed four earned runs on seven hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in 4.2 innings, while NSU's Devin Meyer (4-0) tossed all 5.1 innings for the Sharks, surrendering one run on two hits with one walk and six strikeouts. 

The Bearcats and Sharks play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, starting at 12:00 p.m.
