Men's soccer shuts out North Georgia to cap unbeaten week

Box Score

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Lander men's soccer team closed out an unbeaten week with a 2-0 shutout victory over PBC foe North Georgia on Saturday afternoon.

Lander (8-3-2, 3-1 PBC) put four shots on frame in the opening half, but could not scratch out a goal against the Nighthawks (4-8-1, 1-3 PBC) and took a 0-0 deadlock into halftime. However, the Bearcats broke through in the 64th minute when Max Bolton cleaned up a saved shot in front of the UNG goal for his seventh score of the season.

The Bearcats held North Georgia off the board the remainder of the half and tacked on an insurance goal in the 89th minute when Bolton found Robbie Young cutting in front of the net, allowing the senior to slot the ball into the lower-right corner.

Jacob Withers made three saves on the day as Lander recorded its second straight shutout and fifth clean sheet of the season.

The Bearcats return to Greenwood and Van Taylor Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 7:00 p.m. when they welcome Lenoir-Rhyne for a non-conference match.
