Volleyball suffers two losses on day two of the PBC/SAC Crossover

JEFFERSON CITY, T.N. – The Lander volleyball team would drop two matches today as they would fall to Lincoln Memorial 3-2 and Carson-Newman 3-1. It would be the first time this season that the Bearcats would lose back to back matches.

Against Lincoln Memorial, the Bearcats would win the first set 25-20 and the second set 25-18 to take a 2-0 match lead. The Bearcats would look to close out the match in the third set, but a close 27-25 loss would extend the contest. The Railsplitters would gain confidence from their set three win and take the last two sets to win the match 3-2. Kyra Ross would lead the Bearcats in kills with 16. Madilyn Reed would lead the team in assists with 35, and Hannah McManus totaled a team-high 30 digs.

In the second match of the day against Carson-Newman the Bearcats would take the first set 25-20. The Eagles would tie the match at one-all after a 25-18 second set win. After coming up short in the third set 25-23, the Bearcats would drop the fourth set 25-14 and lose the match 3-1. Kyra Ross would lead the Bearcats in kills with 15. Madilyn Reed would lead the team in assists with 30, and Hannah McManus totaled a team-high 21 digs.

Lander will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 18, as they host conference foe Augusta at 7:00 p.m.
