Baseball ends series at No. 13 Georgia College with 4-1 loss

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Lander baseball team took an early lead on No. 13 Georgia College Sunday afternoon, but the Bobcats responded with four unanswered runs to claim a 4-1 win and a Peach Belt Conference series sweep over the Bearcats.

Lander (12-24, 6-15 PBC) plated the first run of the afternoon on a Colton Yeager sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning as Mike Fitschen scored to put the Bearcats up 1-0. However, after recording three hits in the first inning, Lander would manage just four hits over the next eight innings.

Georgia College took the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth and tacked on two more in the fifth to build a 4-1 advantage.

Chris Sheehan (2-5) went the distance for Lander, holding the Bobcats to their lowest run total in eight games. Sheehan allowed four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and a walk, while Bradley Cammack (8-1) limited the Bearcats to one run on five hits with eight strikeouts and three walks in 6.0 innings to earn the win.

The Bearcats return home for a midweek contest against Anderson on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
