SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Lander women's basketball extended its season-long winning streak to eight games on Wednesday night as the Bearcats earned an 83-63 victory over Peach Belt Conference rival Armstrong State at the Alumni Center.

Lander improves to 18-5 overall and 11-3 in the PBC, while Armstrong moves to 8-16, (4-11).

All five Bearcat starters scored in double figures, led by Destinee Langford's 20 points, which tied her career high. Ty'hesha Reynolds scored 18 points, while Breshay Johnson added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jessica Harris came off the bench to grab a career-high nine rebounds. 

Deundria Clark netted 17 points respectively for the Pirates, while Machala Raymonville added 13.

Lander connected on 31-of-67 field goals (46.3 percent), including 6-of-20 threes (30 percent), and 15-of-22 free throws (68.2 percent).The Bearcats outrebounded the Pirates, 44-35. 

Armstrong was 25-of-61 from the field (41 percent), including 9-of-22 from the three-point line (40.9 percent), and 9-of-14 from the foul line (64.3 percent).

The Bearcats never trailed, building a 26-12 lead at the end of the first quarter behind 10 points from Langford. 

 Lander stretch the lead to 36-16 with 6:19 remaining in the first half, but the Pirates pulled within 10 by halftime, ending the second quarter on a 5-0 run to cut the Bearcat lead to 41-31. 

The Bearcats scored 10 of the first 12 points in the third period, with Langford scoring on three consecutive trips down the floor, to build a 51-33 three minutes into halftime. Armstrong never pulled within 10 points the rest of the way.
